OUR LEGACY
You have given me the inheritance of those who fear Your name. (NASB)
…You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name. (NIV)
Psalm 61:5b (from today’s One Year Bible reading)
A heritage of those who fear Your name. That’s what my wife and I received in our respective homes growing up, and it’s a very, very special heritage indeed! Our parents weren’t perfect (nor were we), but they honored and feared the Lord—what a legacy—and King David also recognized that as a special inheritance.
We realize, of course, that not everyone has been blessed as we were; the reality is, it’s really, really rare.
Having said that, if you’re reading this and you have a family of your own, you are probably wanting to pass on this legacy to those following you. May God continue to help us and our church family to do just that!
