THE GREATEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME

The account in Luke 24 of the two men who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus is well-known as one of the resurrection appearances of Jesus. It is yet another proof that Jesus has “risen indeed.” This was no secret resurrection. Jesus appeared to these two men as well as the disciples and over 500 others! Jesus let folks touch Him and talk with Him. He walked, ate, and showed the scars on His body from the nails and spear. This was no “look alike” posing to be Jesus, and this was no “ghost.”

I love the verse where the two men invite Jesus into their home. They say to the Lord, ““Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” Jesus never refused an invitation to come inside a home, whether before or after His rising from the dead. Why was that? Surely it is because He loves to be with those He came to save. People are the very reason He came to earth.

The two men then became witnesses of their encounter with Jesus. They told the others about what happened. This reminds me that each of us have also had an encounter with Jesus. He desired to come into the home of our hearts and stay with us. We invited Him in, and we now have sweet fellowship with our Lord and God. Our mission is to also tell others of the greatest thing that has ever happened to us.
