LIVING TO PLEASE GOD

God has given us everything we need to know, obey, and please Him. As Paul writes the book of 1 Thessalonians during his second missionary journey, he pens these words to this young church to stay on track and keep following the Lord. His words could not be more comforting to the young church at Thessalonica. He lays out that they are to be “sanctified and avoid sexual immorality and control their own bodies in a way that is holy and honorable” verse 3. Verse 7 goes on to explain that “God did not call us to be impure., but to live a holy life.” I think for many people holiness is something that they feel is out of their reach, but according to Paul, it’s the goal to pleasing God. God gives us the Holy Spirit to do that within us that we could never accomplish on our own. It is always amazing to me how well the Lord knows us and the temptations we feel in life, and how giving into those temptations can ruin our testimony and our lives. Thankfully, He gives us the Holy Spirit to help us resist and become more like His Son. When someone describes you and me, is holiness one of the words they would say that we are characterized by?
