MY GOD IS SO BIG
“ My God is so Big”…”so strong and so mighty there’s nothing my God cannot do”.
Kids love to sing that song. It even has some great hand motions to go with it to help them remember it. See if you can read this Psalm slowly and maybe just maybe you’ll see what they are singing about.
Who Is like the Lord Our God?
113 Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!
4 The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens!
5 Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
6 who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
8 to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
9 He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the Lord!
In just 9 verses of this short Psalm we learn a lot about our Heavenly Father. His name is to be praised and blessed. He is “high above all nations”, seated on high, and He “looks down on the heavens and the earth.” Not only is He high and lifted up but amazingly He is concerned with the details of our lives, sees our needs, knows our hurts, and works to bring us joy in this life. This majestic one raises the poor from the “dust and the ash heap“ and lifts us up to sit with the princes of His people. Who is like our God? Take a few moments and write a praise list. Where do you see the Lord working in your life? What are you thankful and joyful for? I often find that when I lack joy in life I’m lacking in praise and I’m focused and locked onto on my problems instead of focusing on the One who is able to see it all and cares deeply. Read the Psalm slowly out loud and Praise His name…
