MAKE THE ONE YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN A PRIORITY!

We all have a longing for a connection to eternal things….a relationship with the eternal God, an understanding of His enduring truth, forgiveness that knows no bounds and which lasts forever.  But we get easily side-tracked and our values warp as we focus too much on the here-and-now and do not keep our eyes on God’s Word.  We obsess over social media, human beauty, followers and fail to follow the Only Truly Beautiful One Worthy to be followed.

In today’s reading, Peter writes, “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass.  The grass withers, and the flower falls off, but the Word of the Lord endures forever.”(1:24-25). And today’s reading in the Psalms also reminds us of the transforming, liberating, foundational truth of God that is available to us in His Word, His commandment, His testimonies.  (119:33-48)

We need to regularly meet together and worship.  We need the discipline of memorizing the Word and spending time in prayer.  We require working out our salvation on a daily basis.  How are you doing with these disciplines?  Does your heart and your eyes regress too easily to mundane, temporary, grassy flowers?  Or have you trained your heart to focus on the Eternal One and His plan for your life?  The One Year Bible reading plan is a great way to encourage that discipline!
