We face countless challenges as believers not the least of which is a general disposition to rely on anything other than God’s truth. For patience, we trust in something from a bottle. For parenting direction, we look to culture. For financial freedom, we believe just another dollar will fix it. But God has given us all we need for life and godliness (2 Pt. 1:3) in His Word. All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness. And in keeping God’s commands He delivers to us great reward (Ps. 19:11).

Leviticus 24 & 25 would not seem to be a text we can apply to our lives today and certainly is a tedious read. These chapters in today’s One Year Bible reading concern keeping the lamps lit, blasphemy, lex talionis (Google it!), sabbatical years, the year of Jubilee, poverty and more. The detail is incredible and the impetus for all these revealed laws is that the LORD is our God (25:17).

God has a plan for YOU. He has revealed in His Word all you need to know to effectively live for Him in detail. He cares about even the ‘small things’ of your life. He certainly will allow you to seek relief in other places. But you will never find what you are ultimately looking for outside His plan……and He will not reward that search.
